Level 3 Matwork Qualification

Our Level 3 Matwork programme is accredited by Active IQ and is a great option for aspiring Pilates instructors with no previous Pilates qualifications. It provides a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experiential learning over the course of 4 immersive weekends spread over 4 months. Our curriculum covers anatomy, client relationships, safety, fitness principles, Pilates Matwork history, programme design, instructional skills, and nutrition to enhance Pilates instruction and client outcomes.

Tailored Learning:

Emphasising individual learning styles, we offer a balance of theoretical exploration and practical application. Engage in a series of group and individual tasks designed to deepen your understanding of Pilates principles and techniques.

Assessments:

Our assessment process encompasses both written evaluations and practical demonstrations with online support and learning  By testing your knowledge and practical skills, we ensure that you are fully prepared to step into the role of a confident and competent instructor. 

Support Mentorship:

Throughout your training, benefit from guided supervision, self-practice opportunities, and personalised guidance from our principal teacher, Sarah Janes. Our course is designed to nurture your growth as a Mat based Pilates instructor, helping you develop your skills.

VIP Level 3 Matwork students get also 4 months access to our live online zoom classes and prerecorded workouts from the start of their course date.

Recognised Qualification:

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will earn an industry recognised qualification accredited by Active IQ in Mat Pilates instruction. This qualification gets you ready to start planning Pilates sessions and  instructing clients through a Mat Pilates class. Also opens doors to exciting opportunities in the field of Pilates instruction or further training in the field of Studio teacher!

Course Curriculum:

Our curriculum is delivered through a mix of in-person sessions and self-paced online units and covers:
  • Unit 1: Anatomy & Physiology for Exercise and Health
    The human body’s mechanics to enhance your Pilates instruction
  • Unit 2: Supporting Clients in Exercise 
    Building strong client relationships to maximise engagement and results in your Pilates lessons or classes.
  • Unit 3: Health, Safety, and Welfare 
    Learning to create a safe, inclusive fitness environment for all your clients.
  • Unit 4: Principles of Exercise, Fitness, and Health
    Understand the science of fitness.
  • Unit 5: Principles of Pilates Matwork 
    The history, principles, and structure of Pilates Matwork.
  • Unit 6: Planning Pilates Matwork Classes 
    Design personalised Pilates programmes to meet diverse client needs.
  • Unit 7: Instructing Pilates Matwork Classes 
    Develop hands-on skills to lead dynamic, effective Pilates sessions.
  • Unit 8: Nutrition for Physical Activity 
    Apply nutritional principles to support clients’ fitness goals.

Entry requirements

You must participate in at least 10x Classical Pilates Group Classes before being accepted on this course.  

Alternatively, we have a Pre-Pilates 1-day Course to prepare prospective students for mat exercises if they have little or no-experience prior to training.  

When completing this course, you will be taught all the necessary knowledge and teaching skills to become a confident and proficient Mat Pilates teacher.
